Fix 'Action not allowed' error

The "Action not allowed" error means SlidesAI was blocked from performing an action, usually because of missing permissions, an expired session, or a restricted account. Expand the app you are using below for the fix.

Fix "Action not allowed"

In the SlidesAI Platform
  1. Fully refresh the page (Cmd/Ctrl + Shift + R) to clear an expired session.

  2. Confirm you are signed in with the correct Google account (top-right profile menu).

  3. Sign out and sign back in if the session is expired.

  4. Disable browser tools that block content, such as ad blockers, then reload.

In Google Slides

If you are having trouble with the Google Slides add-on, it is usually caused by one of two Google account issues.

Multiple Gmail accounts

Make sure you are not logged into multiple Gmail accounts in the same browser. This is a known limitation on Google's end.

  1. First, try creating a presentation in a private browsing window. If the add-on works there, your browser session is conflicting with another signed-in account.

  2. Next, create a separate Chrome profile for the Gmail account linked with SlidesAI, as recommended by Google.

  3. Confirm the presentation is open under the exact Google account that installed SlidesAI.

Google Workspace restrictions

If you are not using multiple Gmail accounts and the steps above did not help, your admin likely has not allowed the installation of outside add-ons.

  1. Ask your admin to allow SlidesAI in the Google admin console.

  2. Alternatively, use SlidesAI with a personal Gmail account instead.

Reload and re-authorize

  1. Reload the presentation tab.

  2. Re-grant permissions: Extensions β†’ Add-ons β†’ Manage add-ons, find SlidesAI, and check its access.

  3. Try opening the add-on in a private browsing window to rule out saved browser data.

In PowerPoint
  1. Restart PowerPoint so the add-in loads.

  2. Make sure you are signed in to Office and connected to the internet.

  3. Re-add the add-in from Insert β†’ My Add-ins if it is missing.

  4. If the pane is blank, close and reopen the SlidesAI add-in from the toolbar at the top.

In the ChatGPT helper
  1. Refresh the ChatGPT page.

  2. Confirm the SlidesAI helper is still active in the conversation.

  3. Start a new chat with the SlidesAI helper if the session is stuck.

Switch your paid plan to another email
