Fix first-run problems

If SlidesAI does not open the first time — the add-on won't launch, the button is missing, or nothing happens after install — these steps usually fix it. Start with the quick checks, then expand the app you are using.

Quick checks (all apps)

  • Signed in with the right account? Make sure you are using the Google/Gmail account you installed with. See Create your account with Google sign-in.

  • Reload after installing. Refresh the page or restart the app so the add-on registers.

  • Check permissions. SlidesAI needs the permissions you granted at install to run.

Fix by app

In the SlidesAI Platform
  1. Fully refresh the page (Cmd/Ctrl + Shift + R) to clear an expired session.

  2. Confirm you are signed in with the correct Google account (top-right profile menu).

  3. Disable browser tools that block content, such as ad blockers, then reload.

  4. Try a private browsing window to rule out saved browser data.

In Google Slides
  1. If the add-on is not in the menu, reopen Extensions — installed add-ons can take a moment to appear.

  2. Reload the presentation tab.

  3. Re-grant permissions: Extensions → Add-ons → Manage add-ons, find SlidesAI, and check its access.

  4. If you use multiple Google accounts, confirm the presentation is open under the account that installed SlidesAI.

In PowerPoint
  1. Open Insert → My Add-ins and confirm SlidesAI is listed; if not, add it again from AppSource.

  2. Restart PowerPoint so the add-in loads.

  3. Make sure you are signed in to Office and connected to the internet (the add-in needs both).

  4. If the pane is blank, close and reopen the SlidesAI add-in from the toolbar at the top.

Still stuck?

If SlidesAI still won't run, check the Troubleshooting collection for specific errors, such as Fix "Action not allowed" error or Fix the add-on missing from the menu.
